Aloha,

My name is Ufi and in 2025, I will be heading to Chuuk with a Foursquare Missionary Team. One of our driving reasons for heading to Chuuk stems from the desire to save the lost and to enrich the saved in the Pacific islands, thus the first island will be in Micronesia!

I grew up in New Hope O’ahu while being raised by both parents from Apia, Samoa. In the church, I gained insight on how to read the Bible, I sought to practice different gifts, and gained a community that fought with and for me. At home, I practiced how to honor my parents when feeling indifferent. I learned the discipline of doing my chores before going to ministry, as well as how to love unconditionally. In my 24 years of life, the Lord has been ever so faithful as He comforts, purifies, and strengthens me for His good.

I have a passion to see how to integrate faith and culture in our day-to-day living. In the Bible we see how Jesus lived while being surrounded in a strong culture that carried rules, values and normalities. Jesus moved through cities making disciples, bringing salvation, delivering people from sickness and death! In the same way, my heart longs to follow the footsteps of Jesus in the Pacific islands; Samoa, Tonga, Hawai’i and soon to be, Chuuk.

Due to some indifferences between culture and christianity, I wrestled with the thought that I needed to choose to be Samoan or a Christian. The Lord had soon taught me that in His way of creating me, He added the detail that I would be His daughter who carries the ethnicity of Samoan. The truth that set me free was not choosing a side, rather it was receiving the identity of belonging to God and praising Him in my ethnicity/hometown.
