Help us save Loki

We are Brianna and Taran Dasilva, and we’re reaching out with heavy hearts and a desperate plea for our beloved dog, Loki. What started as a seemingly minor issue has turned into a critical, life-threatening situation for our furry family member.
Last Thursday, we noticed Loki wasn’t himself—he seemed sad and vomited a bit. We thought it might just be some grass he ate and decided to give him a day to rest. By Friday, he was drinking water but rejecting food, still vomiting. On Saturday, our concern grew as he stopped drinking water and refused to eat anything. We knew he needed help urgently.
Taran stayed home with our son, Noah, while I spent 7 hours in the emergency vet clinic with Loki. They performed x-rays which showed no obstruction, but instead of running further tests, they sent us home with a hefty bill and pain medication without a clear diagnosis. They advised us to call if his condition worsened.
On Sunday, I ended up in the hospital due to an illness and extreme dehydration. Coming home exhausted, I found Loki in an even worse state. I called the vet back, desperate for help, but they told me to wait another 24 hours. That night, Loki's condition deteriorated—he was lethargic, vomiting, not eating or pooping, and could barely lift his head. I called again, only to be told we’d need to start a new case, incurring more fees.
Monday morning, we took Loki to a different vet. They immediately hooked him up to an IV, administered antibiotics, and ran extensive tests including blood panels and a urinalysis, but everything came back inconclusive. Today, we made one last attempt for answers with an ultrasound, which again showed no obvious issues. The vets now believe that Loki’s best chance is an exploratory surgery.
We have already spent over $2,000 on vet bills, and the surgery is estimated to cost between $3,000 and $5,000. This situation has taken a toll on us financially and emotionally, especially with me being off work due to sickness and Taran supporting me through this tough time.
This is not how we envisioned spending our first wedding anniversary—watching our son’s best friend fight for his life. We are reaching out to our community, friends, and family for help. If you can donate or share our story, we would be eternally grateful. Loki means the world to us, and we can’t bear the thought of losing him.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can provide.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Brianna, Taran, Noah, and Loki DaSilva
