Support Indie’s Heart Surgery and Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Indie was born on December 11th with a congenital heart defect called coarctation of the aorta. This causes her heart to work extra hard to pump blood to the rest of her body. Because of this, Indie was in the NICU at birth as she was having spouts of turning blue and having trouble breathing on her own. The doctors, however, weren’t aware of her condition at this time so they cleared Indie to go home after her breathing got stronger. She was able to spend 3 weeks at home and seemed completely healthy.
On January 7th, Indie stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital where she was given the diagnosis of coarctation of the aorta. She was then life-flighted to Primary Children’s where she had to undergo immediate open heart surgery.
UPDATE
The heart surgery was successful. However, while they were trying to do breathing trials to remove her breathing tube, she would stop breathing and was heavily reliant on her breathing machine. They decided to do a CT scan and unfortunately found that she had suffered multiple severe strokes and seizure's which have affected both the left side and right side of her brain. She will remain in the hospital for the time being as her parents and doctors work together to give her the best care possible.
Gavin and Jeneca are the most incredible parents to Indie and her older sister Oakley. Our hearts ache for their family. We would love to support them during this time so that they can focus on taking care of Indie during her recovery. We are truly so appreciative of any donations and we are equally grateful for the prayers said on behalf of the Walker family.
