More tomorrows for Chloe Schumacher

Donation protected
On Friday, April 21st I received a call from my husband with some shocking news. He just got off the phone with our long-time (25+ years) family friend Jamie Schumacher who said that his wife Tessa and daughter Chloe (age 11) made an emergency flight from where they live now in Helena, Montana to Rochester's Mayo Clinic the day before.

This family of six moved from Buffalo, Minnesota to Helena, Montana in 2018. Their oldest daughter Chloe who is just two months younger than my 11-year-old daughter visited Minnesota a few weeks ago to attend her grandmother’s funeral with her dad Jamie and brother Evan. During the tail end of their trip Chloe was feeling nauseous, having headaches, and just overall not feeling like herself. Thinking that she was catching a cold, Dad Jamie cut their Minnesota visit short and head back to Montana earlier than planned to ensure that Chloe could rest up and feel better at home.

Once home, over the days to follow, Chloe was not improving and was suffering from horrible headaches and nausea especially when she would wake up. Worried that something more serious was taking place, parents Jamie and Tessa took Chloe to their primary care physician where it was discovered through their Ophthalmologist’s MRI that Chloe has a large tumor growing in the frontal lobe of her brain and that it could be cancerous.

After learning the most terrifying news parents can hear, Mom Tessa and Chloe packed their bags leaving Dad Jamie home in Montana with brother Evan (9) and two sisters Maddy (5) and Clara (3). Tessa and daughter Chloe hopped on the first flight they could, traveling 1,128 miles to get Chloe to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to begin the initial assessments and tests required to come up with a plan for treatment of Chloe’s large frontal lobe tumor.

Dad, Jamie flew into Minnesota last week joining Tessa and their daughter Chloe for roughly 10 hours of conversations with physicians and testing last week at the Mayo Clinic. Chloe was suffering from headaches and nausea, especially in the morning hours and was resting as much as possible as they heard more and more news about the best plan of action.

Surgery to remove her tumor was scheduled and went as planned on April 28th and swelling continues to decrease which is good; allowing her to be up and walking around. Chloe has been discharged and is residing back at the Ronald McDonald house as she continues her appointments with the Mayo Clinic. The biopsy results came in this week confirming what we all did not want to hear which was that this tumor is a grade 4 glioblastoma. Chloe is scheduled to begin chemotherapy in approximately ten days.

You can make a difference by re-sharing to your social media network of friends and family helping to raise money for her medical expenses. Every prayer, every share and every penny is appreciated!

Chloe is a fun-loving, caring, energetic typical eleven-year-old that enjoys hanging out with her siblings and animals. She is an amazing gymnast and is incredibly strong for being so young. Chloe comes from a very close-knit caring family who would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it.

This go fund me is set up to assist in getting Chloe and her family the help they will need with current and future doctor bills. In addition, this will aid in the travel that is needed between Minnesota and Montana to get the care here that is not available where they live. Everything donated is very appreciated and will be used towards Chloe’s care and associated travel costs. Let’s work together to support Chloe’s tomorrows!
