On April 17, 2017, Kappa Sigma will be hosting our new annual philanthropy: “SPLASH!” consisting of a challenging and fun water-themed obstacle course, as well as a day at the "beach" in our parking lot as a way to raise money for Kappa Sigma's Military Heroes Campaign. We have been recognized as the UF Inter-Fraternity Council's Philanthropy of the Year on several occasions.
Since joining with the Military Heroes Campaign, Kappa Sigma has provided financial assistance to the Fisher House Foundation, which offers free housing and other facilities to wounded veterans and their families during rehabilitation. Last year alone, our chapter was able to raise almost $10,000 for returning veterans and we plan to surpass that figure this year by doubling it.
The event will be held at Norman Field at the University of Florida on Monday, April 17th. Different organizations on campus will put together a team to compete in a water-themed obstacle course consisting of water slides, inflatable courses, and more. There will be live music, food, and drinks. All of the University of Florida Panhellenic Council Sororities will be attending the event, as well as other student organizations and potentially faculty and staff.
The A Greater Cause Foundation is a public charity recognized under
Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code established by Kappa Sigma Fraternity to support the charitable endeavors of the undergraduate chapters of the Fraternity. The principal program of the A Greater Cause Foundation is Kappa Sigma's Military Heroes Campaign.
Created in 2007, the Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated nearly $500,000 to non-profit organizations who advocate on behalf of service members and those wounded in combat.
