Support George's Recovery Journey - 3 more surgeries to go

Lord, where do I start! I’m the type to be embarrassed to ask for help, but this time the Lord said don’t be! Humble your soul, put your husband and children first, and ask the village or community . With my husbands permission, I’m asking for help. Our story started January 28; we woke up in beautiful spirits. It was my husband's birthday. We got our 1st grader Brayden up for school and were planning a birthday breakfast upon returning home after his drop-off at school! On the way home at 7:30, traveling from Violet, LA back to our current home, George had a 3rd stroke. Our oldest son was home when his father arrived and couldn't walk or talk. Blood pressures were as high as 260s/150s, and on the morning of January 29, after a 16-hour wait, he was transferred to trauma ICU. From there, it was a downward spiral of medical problems for weeks from uncontrolled diabetes, kidney failure, chronic systolic heart failure, uncontrollable blood pressures, a brain aneurysm, and diabetic retinopathy. He had 2 heart attacks after the 3rd stroke during the hospital stay, resulting in heart catheterization. George's heart is now only functioning at 25%, but he couldn’t go through a defibrillator placement during his hospital stay due to catching pneumonia. Finally, after a long time, we got discharged on 39 prescriptions to keep him alive. His kidney function has gotten back to acceptable ranges, and he can walk, talk, and eat again, but we have a long road ahead of us.

I, his wife, exhausted all my paid time off and financial assistance from my job to make it till now. My job at Walmart has blessed me, and I can take off work with my job being safe to tend to my family, but I'm out of paid time to cover my pay. We will be moving out of our current residence by May 1st. The problem is I will be out of work to tend to my own medical needs and George medical needs at same time. My estimated down time from work will be 4-7 weeks with no complications to take care of him while he gets his eyes cauterized to stop the bleeding, a heart defibrillator placed, and the stent placed in his brain aneurysm. His eye and heart surgery will be the end of April, and his brain surgery in May. My foot surgery will be in may also. I will be placed on a knee scooter for a couple weeks.

My income is the only income to hold my family together as of now. Our eldest son will help me move our belongings between hospital stays and surgeries, but I don’t know how I will make ends meet financially during my time out of work to tend to my husband and the kids and a new home's bills, food, necessities, and transportation, but I know God will make a way! I wanna keep my husband here on earth a little longer with me and our kids. Please find it in your heart to help with as much as you can! I need the village's help! All donations are appreciated.

Thanks,
Natasha, George, George, and Brayden Davis.
