Update: Marley Manson has been laid to rest today, Friday June 6th.
A few weeks ago, our cat Marley accidentally ingested lavender—something that’s toxic to cats—and we rushed him to the emergency vet. But what we thought was a sudden scare turned out to be much more serious. Marley has since been diagnosed with multiple chronic conditions, including liver and intestinal infections, kidney failure, and a severe form of pancreatitis. The lavender may have just been the tipping point for a deeper, long-standing illness. Now he’s on multiple medications, has stopped eating, and the vets believe he urgently needs to be admitted to the hospital for further care and testing—but the cost is more than we can manage on our own. With your help, we hope to get Marley admitted for at least a day of observation and care, which could make a crucial difference. Any additional funds would go directly toward his ongoing treatment. Marley has been part of our lives for years, and those who’ve met him know he’s a one-of-a-kind cat with a gentle, funny soul.
Marley is more than just a pet—he’s family. He came into Lily’s life on Christmas Day in Shell Beach, CA, after his former family had a baby and could no longer keep him (classic Marley move, finding his way into the right home). Since then, he’s been Lily’s emotional support animal and our constant source of comfort and joy. He’s impossibly cuddly, endlessly curious, and loves saying hello to everyone he meets. He’s talkative, gentle, and somehow always smells like pancakes. Every night, he climbs into bed with us—laying on our chests while we watch movies or play video games—just to be close. His warmth and presence mean everything to us, and we want to give him every chance we can.
We’re doing everything we can to support Marley at home, but right now, he needs more than we can give alone. Admitting him for professional care—even for just a day—could give us answers, ease his pain, and hopefully give him the fighting chance he deserves. If you’re able to donate anything at all, it would mean the world to us. Every dollar goes directly to Marley’s treatment, and if we’re lucky enough to receive more than we need, it will go toward any follow-up care or medications. Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for helping us fight for our sweet boy.
TL;DR
Our cat Marley is seriously ill with multiple conditions (kidney failure, liver infection, pancreatitis), and needs to be hospitalized for urgent care. We’re doing all we can, but we can’t afford the cost alone. If you’re able to help—even a little—it would go directly toward his treatment. He’s been Lily’s emotional support animal and our best friend for years. Thank you for supporting us and the little guy
