Hello dear friends,
My favorite quote is “If I can help somebody, my living shall not be in vain.” If you know Chad Cazee, you realize that he is the personification of this quote. He is one of the most considerate and kind friends I have ever met. He constanly thinks of ways to care for, and help his friends and even acquaintances. Many people use the phrase “best friends” or “good friends” to describe someone like Chad. However, these phrases are not adequate to express the kind and compassionate person that Chad is. He is a GREAT friend, brother, uncle, director, actor and human being.
Chad is not a wonderful friend to just me. He has been to everyone he calls a friend and/or taught along the way. I had the privilege of becoming great friends with Chad during our time working together at the Permian Playhouse. During that time, I was continually impressed with, and in awe of Chad’s selfless acts for others. If he knew that someone had a talent, he would encourage them in the pursuit of it. If he knew someone was looking for a job, and heard of an opening, he would let them know. He wrote recommendation letters, directed shows, painted sets, and gave people opportunities they wouldn’t have had without him.
I can’t count how many times Chad has done big, small, and sometimes huge favors for friends. He loaned people money with no expectation of it being returned. He did it simply to help his friends, even if it meant he would have to sacrifice something for himself. Don’t worry, I won’t give names and social security numbers, but I could write a list of people he helped!! He never did these things for the thank you, the praise or in hopes of getting the favor returned. Chad did it for his friends, the kids, and the theater community.
I can’t thank Chad enough on a personal level for the faith he had in me as a choreographer. I had many wonderful experiences, and was able to work with amazing people because of Chad. He believed in me and gave me my choreography “break” at the Permian Playhouse. The times I was able to choreograph wonderful shows , and work with many of you reading this, were some of the most cherished experiences in my life. I wouldn’t be graduating with a Dance Therapy and Counseling Master's degree this weekend if it weren’t for his belief in me. Honestly.
Beginning in May of 2014, Chad began experiencing serious health issues. Over this past year he has been admitted to the ER 6 times. 3 of these times he was admitted to the hospital for 2 to 3 days. His most recent hospital stay was for 5 weeks. Because of the difficulty of treatment, diagnosis, energy, etc, Chad has not been able to work since November 7th. That’s 6 months of no regular income. Even before November he had to miss several days of work causing him to get behind in his bills. At this point Chad is now very behind on utilities and rent. Luckily he has had an accommodating landlord, but Chad does have significant amount of money to re-pay his bills and living expenses, not to mention the large amount in hospital bills.
I’m happy to report that Chad is now on the mend and symptoms are becoming manageable!! While talking with him recently, it became apparent how concerned he is about paying these bills. Because of this, I told him I wanted to start this page. It is my wish for Chad to be able to focus on getting healthy rather than stressed by this debt. After the initial resistance, I finally got him to agree to let me do this page. After all, Chad didn’t choose to get sick, none of us do.
Please consider donating to help Chad. Maybe you don’t even know Chad, and are reading this because we are Facebook friends. But perhaps you have your own “Chad”. Someone you appreciate and love, and would do anything they could for a friend. How about honoring that person by helping in their name?
I am just one person that Chad has helped over the years. If he wrote you a recommendation letter, gave you your “break” in a role in a play, or backstage, supported you, listened to you, laughed the day away with you, treated you as a friend, or believed in you, or your child, please consider returning that favor now. Whatever you can give is appreciated, anything is more than zero. Let’s pay it forward people! Thank you for your time reading this. I appreciate all of you!
