Mickey's Medicals
Donation protected
This gofundme campaign has been started to raise money for our good friend, Mickey Calderiso. All of you who know Mickey know of and appreciate his generosity to others. He has initiated numerous fundraising events to help those in need. This lengthy list includes starting an annual charity golf tournament to benefit the American Stroke Association (following his own stroke in 2012); raising funds to aid local displaced service industry professionals after a fire shut down a community restaurant; and countless other benefit events held at his restaurant, On The Half Shell, located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
Mickey has been recently diagnosed with bilateral avascular necrosis. Avascular necrosis is the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. Also called osteonecrosis, avascular necrosis can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and the bone's eventual collapse. Due to the severe and debilitating pain he was suffering, Mickey underwent a lengthy total hip replacement of one hip, and a decompression surgery with donor bone graft to the other on March 16, 2016. These procedures have thus far been deemed successful; however, the recovery from them will be lengthy. Mickey will be out of his normal work activities for several months to ensure a full recovery.
Illness is expensive - even more so when you work for yourself and are responsible for approximately twenty (20) other people and their families. For these reasons, any donation is genuinely appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your kind consideration!
