Hi,
My name is Mike and I am fundraising to take Marc, a young man who has battled disabilities all his life on a Tall Ship sailing adventure for a week in March 2022.
My name is Mike and I am fundraising to take Marc, a young man who has battled disabilities all his life on a Tall Ship sailing adventure for a week in March 2022.
Marc was born with respiratory distress which resulted in brain damage - presenting as almost daily seizures until at two years old he had part of the left side of his brain removed. This resulted in learning difficulties, serious visual impairment and hemiplegia which causes weakness, problems with muscle control, and muscle stiffness. Despite these setbacks Marc has astounded his parents and the doctors - he learned to walk, talk and can see despite being told he never would. He is a joy to be with, loves life, loves people and through the Northampton Sailabilty Charity and other activities is gaining confidence undreamed of even a year ago.

Now he has a huge confidence building opportunity and a big challenge – the chance to be part of the crew for a week on the tall ship SV Tenacious. At 213 feet, Tenacious is the largest sailing vessel built in the UK in the last 100 years. Specially designed for accessibility and operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust the ship has given opportunity for literally thousands to experience something where they can prove capable.
