help my sister to rebuild

Hi, my name is Karin and I live in Melbourne, Australia.

Last weekend, disaster struck in Northeast Slovenia.

On the 4th of August 2023, the little villages alongside the Savinja River were flooded like never before.

My sister Susanne & her husband Alois live in a small community in Braslovce, Slovenia.

An out-of-this-world storm hit the region with rainfall worth a whole month in one day and left the area like a war zone.

The water came so fast, that there was no time to leave, other than to rescue themselves to the balcony. After long hours of waiting for the water to calm a little, they were finally rescued by the fire brigade. Thank you !!!

My sister's house and garden is now destroyed. My sister is at the end of her strength.

All furniture, including the kitchen, washing machine, oven, dishwasher, heaters, cars and so much more. Nothing left that can be saved.

Susi and Alois are retirees in their Mid 60s and 80s, who worked so hard all their lives for what they owned.

It is heartbreaking to see them struggle mentally and financially. Their savings are now coming to an end and I am now desperately trying my best to find all those generous people out here who are kind enough to donate however much is possible.

With the funds raised, we will try to repair and replace what is lost as much as we can, so they can move back into the house.

The roof was damaged by the force of the water pressing against it and needs to be repaired or even replaced.

You probably wonder if they have insurance. The answer is yes, but this is the second time flooding in 10 years, the insurance will only pay a minimum, which will not cover all the repairs and costs this flood has caused.

Please, help them find their feet again. Even if you cannot donate, and I know, times are hard, please share wide and far.

Any donation, whether large or small, will be a step towards helping Susi and Alois and showing them that there is still lots of compassion in this world.
