My name is Stephanie Lagman, I’m a single mother of two boys named Jamison (7) and Jaxon (6). This past year has been really hard for all of us, and I’ve been able to provide for my family up until now. At the beginning of the pandemic I lost my job. Both of my kids were required to be virtual for 5-6 hours straight a day, leaving no time to work during the day. I got a job driving for LYFT and have been driving nights, when they are sleeping and when I can find a babysitter. I went from having (free) help with the boys 5-6 nights a week, to no help. With gas prices being as high as they are and having to pay for a babysitter, I am unable to get ahead at all. I am currently waiting for my Federal taxes, which I filed over 6 months ago, but due to having to verify my identity and not being able to reach anyone at the IRS, that money remains in limbo. I was taking unemployment before I got my job with LYFT but stopped shortly after I started making enough money to provide for my family. I have not received any unemployment/underemployment since February. I am trying my hardest with little success.
My landlord is threatening to evict me because of my rent, even though I have a claim in with CERA, the Covid Emergency Rental Assistance, which is taking too long apparently. My hands are basically tied at this point and I have no other option then to reach out for help.
Asking for help might be harder than any of what’s happened this past year, but I can not lose everything I have built from the ground up for my boys. If you can find it in your heart to help out my family, even if it’s $1, we would be forever indebted and grateful.
Thank you to anyone reading this and to anyone that donates. I believe fully in paying it forward, so as soon as I’m on my feet again, I will do everything in my power to help another family.
Covid has taken away a lot, but it will not defeat us.
God Bless.
