Please Help Jacob Newkirk Fight Cancer_July 2025 Updates

Hello dear friends and friends who’ve come across our story,

We returned from Oasis of Hope on June 27th, '25 with great news! While there’s slight tumor growth, no metastasis has occurred, and his labs and organ function are stable—amazing stability happening here! However, Jacob’s albumin and protein levels are dangerously low, causing extreme fatigue and making him fully wheelchair-bound.

A little confusing, right? This is not a “feel-good therapy”—we expect inflammation as a sign of his immune system identifying and fighting against the cancer cells!

We’ll continue with his treatment protocol and trust in God’s timing for strength and healing. Despite the challenges, we’ve witnessed God's miracles in our lives long before cancer came to the table in ways we’ve least expected and we don’t view this season as anything different.Oasis has seen better results with monthly DCV shots for Jacob’s cancer, and we’ve been offered a chance to join a pilot program at a reduced cost. We are so blessed to live near the border, as travel expenses are a burden for many.

Previously, we saved costs by staying at local hotels or Airbnbs, packing our own food, driving our own car, etc. But Jacob’s current care requires us to stay onsite. So, we’re reopening our GoFundMe to help cover these expenses. We trust in God’s plan, whatever it may be.

God knew exactly what our lives would look like when we moved to Frazier Park, where Jacob grew up. It’s no coincidence we ended up across from amazing friends who’ve known Jacob for years, a church family who’s loved him long before I met him, and new friends who’ve supported us from day one. We’re so blessed to have friends and family who aren’t just talkers, but true doers. God’s sovereignty is clear in every detail, and through fellowship, He holds us in His loving arms. We are deeply grateful for everyone who’s been with us in this battle—your support keeps our hope high and hearts strong. You have no idea the impact you've made in our lives.

As it reads in 1 Peter 1:6-7 "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ" It is our greatest desire that people understand where our peace comes from. The preciousness of our faith is worth more than gold (or even what we raise through our GoFundMe, for that matter!) What our Lord uses to refine us in affliction is never meant to destroy us. We’ve embraced this truth in our current suffering and look to Christ, trusting He will grow our character so that we may be a blessing to others. As a good friend of mine often reminds me, “This life is not about us, but about how God wants to use us to serve Him and others with our story."

A request to our faithful and prayerful families:
-We ask our brothers and sisters to pray that our hearts and spirits remain faithful and strong. Please uplift Jacöb—bring him joy and laughter during this time—and pray that we both gladly receive the support of our friends.
-Pray that we never fall into the mindset of helplessness or isolation, but instead always remember that God is faithful and that every need has a solution when we ask.
-Pray for me, that I may be a light and a helper, as I am called to be as Jacob’s wife—that I remain gentle, patient, and strong for him.And please pray for our children—that they would have courage and faith, and that they grow in strength, hope, and peace.

We love you all dearly,
Rachael and Jacöb Newkirk

Hello Friends, Family & Supporters,

Over the summer of 2023 Jacob “Jake” Newkirk went to the hospital ER with severe stomach pain. He required emergency surgery and received the devastating diagnosis of Colon Cancer. Jake’s operation took place just one day before the Newkirk family received the keys to their new home located in Southern California. A time that was supposed to be a special celebration for the family turned immediately into worry and uncertainty. While Jake was in the hospital recovering from his surgery, those closest to him helped complete the move for the family.

Jake’s diagnosis required both aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments that left Jake feeling exhausted, nauseous, and overall, extremely sick. However, even with so much going on in his personal life, and with his health, he still insisted on continuing to work as an SAP Analyst for Arvato. Most of the time working quietly in the background & never missing a beat, his co-workers, and friends completely unaware of the battle he was fighting. For those that know Jake personally, this is no surprise, as he would do anything possible to provide for his family – Wife Rachael who is a stay-at-home mom and the couple’s three sons, Atticus, Jeremiah & Micah.

Jake loves music and has a talent & passion for playing the drums. He loves going to church and is a true man of faith, never allowing tough times to waiver his beliefs. He is a friend to many, someone that you can confide in and who listens patiently and offers support and guidance along with tons of jokes, a little sarcasm and lots of laughs.

Spending time with his family is his most cherished and greatest joy. Rachael’s social media captures precious moments in time of Jake proudly watching his boys hunting for Easter Eggs, dancing with them at family functions and even dozing off together for a nap on the couch after lots of fun family playtime. He is the definition of a strong father, supportive husband, and overall great family man.

This month the Newkirk family received another heartbreaking update. While Jake was in a necessary cancer related operation, the surgeon identified that the cancer in Jake’s body has begun to spread. Informing Jake that his diagnosis has now changed to Metastatic Colon Cancer.

Most of us would agree that one of the hardest things to do as an adult is to ask for help. As Jake faces this challenging journey ahead of him, we want to ensure that he does not ever have to ask for that help! We want him to know that we are here to rally around him with support in his time of need. This GoFundMe campaign aims to ease the financial burden of the family’s daily living expenses and treatment costs while Jake is undergoing chemotherapy. Our goal is to allow Jake and his family the ability to focus on the important things, his treatment, strength, rest, and overall peace of mind as he continues his battle against cancer.

Every contribution, no matter how small will help make a difference in Jake's life.

Thank you for your support!
