Help Mimi beat cancer

Hi y'all -- This is my GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for my cancer treatments. This is my story:

I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago with triple negative breast cancer. It's a cancer that's particularly difficult to treat and currently has no "targeted" treatments through Western medicine practices. The 3-drug chemo cocktail used was developed for other types of breast cancer; and in the case of triple negative, the chemo cocktail has a better than 50% chance of actually causing the cancer to metastasize. The standard Western protocol also includes removing all the sentinel lymph nodes as well as a course of radiation treatments.

The problem with all that for me is that I was born with a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which, among other things, makes me hyper-sensitive to drugs and in many cases causes either opposite or quite detrimental effects. What's more, it was made clear to me by one doctor that because of my EDS, I would never recover from removing the sentinel lymph nodes. I was also advised to only get low-dose chemo, if I go that route. And from the experiences of other women with EDS and breast cancer, radiation would cause permanent, debilitating damage. However, the current Western medical approach is a standardized, one-size-fits all protocol and no hospital that I consulted with was willing to deviate or even slightly modify their treatment. It is as if I went to a hospital with an infection and was told that they would only give me penicillin, even though I'm quite allergic to it.

So I have been forging my own path in dealing with this cancer. My approaches have been traditional, plant-based approaches, combined with spiritual, mental & emotional practices to heal myself. Unfortunately, this has meant that everything is paid for solely by me and even before this diagnosis, I was decidedly low-income. What little savings and retirement I had before this journey started is being depleted to the point that I'm now asking for a little help from my friends!

Part of this financial need is that I've recently started a very promising therapy, but the cost of if is beyond my resources. It's considered an "adjunct" therapy but it's really a little more than that. This therapy has been found to synergize other treatments that are used in combination to fight cancer -- and, yes, it has been shown to be effective against triple negative breast cancer in conjunction with other treatment protocols. It is, however, not covered by Medicare (or any other insurance company).

And so, that's why I need to raise $5,400. It's to pay for my cancer treatment.
