On Sunday October 5th, Laurena’s car was totaled in a hit and run incident. While stopped and waiting to turn out of her neighborhood a speeding vehicle— believed to be a Tesla — slammed into the front passenger side of the car. That driver then sped off... There were two friends in the car at the time. Miraculously, everyone was able to walk away.

Then, after weeks of back and forth with her insurance provider (of 8 years), they are refusing to cover any damage, leaving her with no vehicle and no safety net. Her work requires a reliable car, and without one, her job — and her sense of stability — are at real risk.

We’re hoping to raise enough money to help her purchase a comparable vehicle and cover the cost of getting it road ready.

It’s difficult to ask for financial help — at this time especially, with an awareness of how many urgent causes and crises there are to attend to. But without saying so, here and now, Laurena has no clear path forward except from outside support. If you’re able to contribute anything at all, it would make a real difference in helping rebuild her footing after this unexpected blow.
