Darrell Shumway Funeral Fund
Donation protected
We're SecurityAlarmNow, an authorized ADT Dealer. We tragically lost a very appreciated member of our SecurityAlarmNow family, Darrell Shumway.
Darrell Shumway was a Field Technician where he was very passionate about installing home security systems to protect the things that are most precious to us. Whenever you would mention Darrell's name amongst his coworkers, nothing but good things would be heard. Darrell always had a positive attitude and he liked to make others laugh. He really cared about the people he worked with which is lost sometimes when you work remotely. He just had a way of making you feel connected and he wasn't all just about business. He liked to get to know about you, and it was definitely from his heart and not something practiced.
On February 23rd, 2016, it was shocking and really sad to hear that while traveling for work and away from his family, Darrell past away suddenly at his hotel.
This was devastating news for everyone. Our company was notified by Thomas Shumway, Darrell's brother and a Field Technician for our company. While we immediately followed up with Thomas, he was still working with great composure installing a security system in one of our customer's homes. Great dedication runs through this family.
As a company, we just wanted to provide any assistance possible to Darrell's immediate family. We started working on how to get Thomas back home ASAP as he was field training one of our newly hired technicians in another market. We also reached out to Darrell's wife through his manager and our HR department. Understandably, she was extremely sad and heartbroken. In reaching out to her, we also were able to speak with Darrell's other brother, Denny. All of the family has been great and understanding, but they are all shocked, sad, and grieving.
We want to do all that we can for Darrell's family, so we are creating this GoFundMe account to help them with their funeral expenses and try to reduce some of the burden they are carrying right now. We are looking to have the funds by March 2nd, 2016.
If you have the ability to help with this donation, Darrell's family and our company will be greatly appreciative. By all standards, Darrell of age 50, it was way too soon. Nothing can make up for this loss, but if you are able to help us reach our goal to assist with the funeral expenses, our company and Darrell's family will be greatly appreciative. Not only does it help with funeral expenses, it also provides comfort to a grieving family that Darrell's memory lives on in more than just theirs through good will and paying it forward.
Darrell will be missed greatly as he was a loving husband, father of 7, grandfather of 4, and brother.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if anything, keep Darrell and his family in your thoughts, prayers, and wishes.
