Ryan started a new medical journey a year ago. He has an enlarged spleen and portal hpertension due to a chemo drug he took during his four year treatment for Leukemia. As many of you know, this has been a rocky road with hospital admits, ER visits, and transports to Seattle Children's Hospital. There is no real fix at this time. It is just monitoring and dealing with the day to day struggles of pain and not feeling well. He also has a lot of emotional trauma so returning to school will be a very slow process.
During all this I am Ryan's full time nurse and now teacher. I cannot go back to school, get a job or move forward in any way. As a single mom of three this is scary. Add to the stress the fact that Ryan's insurance is changing this next year and will not be anywhere close to the coverage we were use to. The bills just keep coming in, not to mention the day to day expenses.
I have tried really hard to not ask for any help. Mostly this was due to pride and the thinking that I should be able to do it on my own. I can't anymore and when things like Christmas and pharmacy bills can't fit into the budget it gets frightening and real. The insurance deductables start over January 1st which isn't far away.
The money will be used for medical expenses, pharmacy costs and some of Ryan's basic needs.
I know the holidays and life in general make it tough, but anything you can donate will help. I really appreciate all of our family and friends and the love and support you provide. If you don't know us personally I'm extremely grateful for your interest. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and we wish you and your families a happy holiday!!!!
With lots of love,
Christina--Ryan's Mom
