Dear Friends,
Yesterday I was approached by a former student that happens to be a senior in high school. The student shared with me that his/her family was having financial problems. The family was evicted from their home and is now living in a motel. The family needs to pay $80 a day before 12 noon in order to continue staying there. I asked what did the family have for dinner and the student stated that they have been having rotisserie chicken from Walmart with slices of bread.
The student has not shared any of this information with close friends for fear of embarrassment. Teachers and fellow classmates have no idea what this family is going through. While many seniors are worried about passing their advance placement exams, this senior is worried about basic necessities such as food and shelter. On top of all that, the student feels obligated to participate in senior activities just to continue fitting in.
If you know me personally, you would know that my student volunteers and I love to help others at school and around the community. This time, we can't do it alone. This time I am asking you to help me help my student! I'm asking you to reach into your pockets and make a donation. Help this family get back on their feet! Thank you!
May you all be blessed,
A mother, a teacher, and a caring friend
