On 4/29/15 my mom Valerie Hernandez suffered multiple strokes rendering her incapable of using her entire left side. She has been at Stanford since. Although Val is unable to swallow at this time, she is slowly improving and we are hopeful in her fighting spirit. We joke that her stubborness will help her through this difficult time.
We know there will no doubt be costly bills associated with the lenthy therapy ahead of her. My mom Val is a long time resident of Redwood City and has been a waitress for over 40 years. Prior to this incident, she lived independently in a small apartment which she was just unknowingly evicted from due to the bay areas gentrification.
Anyone who knows Val knows that she puts everyone else first and that she would never ask for help.
