Help Makayla's Miracle: Support Her Journey to Recovery

On December 22nd, 2023, Makayla was spending the night at her friend's house when a tragic accident occurred. Makayla and her friend were in an off-road vehicle (side by side) on the streets of Jupiter Farms when it flipped into a nearby canal. The details of the crash and the driver are currently under investigation.

Makayla became trapped underwater, where she tragically drowned until emergency medical assistance arrived, which took approximately 11 minutes and 30 seconds after the accident. There was confusion initially, with focus on locating the stepdaughter rather than Makayla. Thankfully, Makayla was revived after 10 minutes of CPR, but the ordeal left her with severe injuries.

For the first three months following the accident, Makayla received extensive treatment at St. Mary's Medical Center, including 60 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. She was later transferred to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, where she continues to face additional challenges on top of her brain injury.

This has been an incredibly difficult time for Makayla and her family, a true nightmare. They anticipate years of therapy and various treatments to help Makayla achieve the best possible quality of life moving forward.
