Help Fire Captain Wendi Beat Cancer

I have created this GoFund me for our dear friend, Cal Fire Captain Wendi Miller who is battling breast cancer. Wendi has been a Firefighter with Cal Fire since 1995 and has spent the last 12 years as an Engineer serving the Perris community. She recently promoted to Fire Captain this year and is now serving the community of Rancho Mirage.
In January of this year, just after promoting to Captain, Wendi found a lump in her breast and armpit and on January 19th she got a call from her doctor that would change her life forever. Wendi was told not only did she have breast cancer, but her cancer was one of the most aggressive, fastest growing breast cancers that exists.
Wendi has spent over half of her life serving her community as a firefighter, but her service goes beyond that. She has helped the homeless for many years and is also part of a peer counseling support team which helps those who suffer from PTSD, stress and emotional issues.
Wendi is an AMAZING and loving daughter, sister, aunt, fire sister and friend to so many. Her smile lights up a room and her loving heart is the calm in any storm. She makes us all want to be a better person.
Throughout Wendi’s life and career she has always given selflessly to everyone else. She has had to pay a lot of money out of pocket for her cancer treatments and I am hoping our community can come together to show our appreciation and support for her.
Wendi has told me that once she beats this beast her goal is to help shine more light and prevention on cancer to all of her fellow Firefighters.
