Help a Family Overcome Medical and Financial Struggles

Hey y’all, my name is Katelyn and one of my dearest friends who really I consider family is going through some of the worst times. They got one of the worst calls on Valentine’s Day about their daughter who was away on a choir trip in Washington, DC, that she had gotten extremely sick, was now in the hospital, and has a blood clot in her lung! They started her on blood thinners as the family dropped everything to drive 7 hrs away to be with her. They arrived today (Feb. 15) to find out that she won’t be able to come home yet and they are still working on getting her levels back to normal. They were told she will not get to go back to school for the rest of the year and will have to do blood thinner shots twice a day for the next three months. Had they not caught this in time, she would have died! And she’s not out of the woods yet.

As a mom of three girls, I can’t imagine how scary of a thought that is to lose your child. It’s going to be a long road ahead of recovery and the bills are already stacking up!

This poor girl has already been through it at the beginning of this year, sustaining a back injury due to a fall that put her in a brace for months and physical therapy and pulled her out of school for some time. Right after that, dad got into a 7-car pile-up. Thankfully, he is ok but had to have knee surgery not long afterwards due to bursitis.

Not to mention, mom’s been through the wringer in and out of the hospital with what they thought was pneumonia, only to find out it is a rare condition that she’s had that they kept misdiagnosing and has been fighting for insurance to receive the treatment for it.

This family is hardworking, owning their own business, and just trying to survive like the rest of us. But sometimes you just have to ask for help, and when you’re going through all that, asking for help isn’t even on your mind as they are in full survival mode. So I’m here doing all I can think of to help this sweet family find a little bit of ease.

They need to be fully present helping her survive this and get through it! The last thing they need to be thinking about is how are they going to pay for it!

Anything thing will help! Even just gas money!
