Boos wheelchair power assist device

My name is Ashley Williams on February 18, 2010 I was in a car accident that left me paralyzed at the C5 level. I'm paralyzed chest down with limited movement in my hands and arms. 

I use a manual chair since I don't have an easy way of transporting my bulky power chair. The SmartDrive MX2 is an attachment that would allow me to be more independent and move more freely. It is a power assist device that is activated by a push and a stopped by a tap. Wheelchair users have to do everything to protect their shoulders since we now rely on our upper extremities. With the SmartDrive, I could push myself more without having the debilitating shoulder pain.

My insurance won't cover the device since I already have a power chair. I need to reach my goal as soon as possible to be able to use it as soon as I can. It'll make a huge difference for me physically and emotionally. I can get stronger without worrying about damaging my shoulders. I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to keep up with everyone else, and many other reasons.
