Kwessie is coming to Canada!

If I was in the same place as you right now, would you buy me lunch?  Coffee?  A drink?  How about dinner?  If you said "yes" then I need your help.

I met Alexander Kwessie Al Hassan in 1996 when I was 24.  I was living in Accra, Ghana with my father at the time, and Kwessie was my Dad's caddy for golf.  He was also instructing my Dad at the same time.  Kwessie was my age, and I was immeditately struck by his intelligence, dedication, and dependability.  Not to mention his incredibly positive attitude.  My father had already established a close relationship with Kwessie and we soon became friends as well.  Over the next year, we taught Kwessie how to drive, and had him over to our place on numerous occasions.  We always enjoyed his company, and he was always gracious and thankful to visit with us as well.  Kwessie never asked anything of us, but we wanted to help him.  He was interested in getting his welding ticket, so we helped him out with his education costs.  On the day he received his papers, he showed up at our door with the biggest smile on his face and proudly displayed his achievement.

It has always been Kwessie's dream to come to Canada.  Over the past 20 years, he has attempted to do just that on a number of occasions without success.  There are many hoops to jump through and obstacles to overcome to acquire a visa from Ghana to visit Canada.  However, just recently, Kwessie received his visitors visa to come to Canada.  I can't tell you how excited he is to finally realise his dream!  He truly believes Canada is the best place on earth, and he is finally going to see for himself.

Kwessie has worked hard for the past 20 years to support his wife and family of 4 children.  He has spent months away from them at a time on tankers at sea saving money to provide for everyone.  He truly is an amazing person who has overcome so much in his lifetime while still holding on to his dream of coming to Canada.  Finally, that is a reality for him and I want to help.  I also hope you feel the same.

Your donations will help Kwessie to purchase his air ticket, and give him some money to fund his trip to Canada as he tries to secure employment and remain in the country so that his family may follow in the future.  It will also help to support his family in the transition process.  Kwessie is determined to make his dream happen and I can tell you that he is the most deserving person of this opportunity.  He cannot wait to begin his new life and help his family as well.  He sees the benefits of getting himself and his family to Canada to help his children realise their educational and life dreams along with his own.

I have been lucky enough to meet Kwessie, and his perseverance, work ethic, and vision are inspiring.  Your donations will truly help someone who will make your investment work so that he can realise all that he has dreamed of for the past 20 years.  Kwessie believes that Canada is an amazing place, with kind, supportive, and welcoming people.  Show him that is absolutely true!  I would like to raise enough money to reach the goal (and surpass it) as soon as possible, so that Kwessie and his family have hope for a new life.  I cannot express how much this would mean to me to help him realise his dream.  Please help.  Thank you.
