Hello! My name is Adrianne and I'm a good friend of the Downs crew! Most everyone is very aware of Payton's condition and recent hospital stay. I'm creating this GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the Downs family!
Here's a breif recap of the Down's past couple of months. A couple of months ago, Payton began having terrible headaches, migraines that were often accompanied with severe nausea and vomiting. Ocaisionally waking him up at night. Around Christmastime, while visiting family in Alabama, Payton fell to the ground outside, complaining of a numb leg and dizziness. Shanna immediately took him to the ER. Unfortunately, the ER doc brushed them off and sent them on their way. They decided to come back to Dallas to have tests done. On the morning of Payton's tests, Shanna recieved a call from the school nurse, saying that he was in her office complaining of dizziness and a numb leg. Shanna and Payton spend all afternoon in and out of the pediatrician office as well as the office where he recieved several scans, before being rushed to Children's Memorial Hospital ER in Dallas. There they spent over 8 days. They were told that most likely he was having these symptoms because of a torn artery in his neck (which occurred while tossing the football in his yard....catching it and landing on awkwardly on his neck). This torn artery caused him to have 3 strokes.......THAT'S THREE STROKES!!! Thankfully he's home now but has to have daily shots and be on blood thinners for 6 months. He's going to have to start PT soon as well. They've been told that Payton will never again be allowed to play any contact sport whatsoever. That if he were ever to have another stroke, it could paralize him, or worse. On top off all of this, their insurance is giving them a bit of a headache as well!
David, Shanna, Payton and the girls are all in good spirits, but let's come together and show our love and support for this sweet family!
