It’s with a heavy heart that our family is asking for your help. My sister, Heather Soto, passed away unexpectedly and leaves behind her husband and five-year-old daughter.
Heather was a loving mother and friend with a big heart and an even bigger imagination. Our family loves playing games together as a hobby, because they let us imagine living in a world better than the one we’ve been afforded. Supergirl was her favorite comic hero, because she represented endless strength and optimism. Heather will always be Supergirl to me, because she lived her life with strength and optimism despite all the obstacles our family faced. But at this moment I can’t be as strong as her, and that’s why I need your help.
Our family has already faced immense loss—my husband passed away three years ago—and we are now trying to hold everything together through another devastating tragedy. We all live together in a modest three-bedroom home in Florida, supporting one another as best we can.
I am a schoolteacher, and my brother-in-law worked alongside Heather at a small dry cleaning business that helped support our household. Without her, our family’s stability is threatened, and meeting basic needs has become increasingly difficult.
This fundraiser will help cover funeral expenses, household bills, childcare, and give our family time to stabilize and find a path forward.
If you are able to contribute, any amount truly helps. If you’re not able to give, sharing this would mean just as much.
Thank you for your support during this incredibly difficult time.
