Hello, my name is Darren.
Im hoping to raise funds for my friend Luke Horsfall to make lasting memories for his wife and 2 children after a tough 10 months and certainly tough times ahead.
Luke was diagnosed with extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma nasal type approximately 13 months ago and has been undergoing chemotherapy. During this time, Luke's family have been strong and have been fighting not just cancer, but with Luke not working, Luke’s wife Sam has managed exceptionally well with two small children, financially and of course caring for Luke.
Throughout his treatment Luke has stayed positive, been his usual happy self, visiting family and friends when possible.
Luke was given positive news at the end of February that only one tumour remained, one cycle of chemotherapy and finally the stem cell replacement was the final hurdle regarding treatment.
During the last cycle of chemotherapy Luke’s temperature caused concern so further tests were carried out. Luke was then given the devastating news that the condition had spread to other areas of the body and Chemotherapy had not worked.
Luke has been told he has six months to live, his condition will worsen and in the near future will need care. This of course is devastating news and even finding the correct words to type is hard. finding the words for Luke and his family is near impossible. However, Luke, family and friends have pulled together and shown amazing fight and love.
So many people have sent such nice messages of love and support since getting such awful news. At 37 years old many of us don’t plan for the end of life or simply can’t afford to with a young family. Having spoken to Luke about the near future, I’m now reaching out to all family and friends to help raise funds to give Luke and family financial support whether to have days out with Sam and the children to make memories or to simply cover any future costs. Even a message of support at this difficult time will go a long way.
