Send Beth to RTZ Baby Loss Retreat

Beth and Rob were so excited to become parents and after almost 42 long weeks (41 weeks, 5 days) Lillian Hope was welcomed into the world on February 11, 2014.
Mom and Dad were so happy to finally bring their daughter home and settle into life as a family of 3. Lillian was 3 days old as Beth was sitting in her living room breastfeeding her. Lillian fell asleep while nursing and when Beth tried to rouse her to continue to feed she realized that Lillian had stopped breathing. An ambulance was called immediately and while waiting for the paramedics, Beth and her mother performed CPR. Paramedics were able to get Lillian's heart beating again but she was unable to breathe on her own. For 3 days, Beth and Rob anxiously waited at Lillian's bedside in the NICU as test after test was run, the prognosis was not good, the brain damage from lack of oxygen was too severe. Lillian would never again breathe on her own or wake from her "coma". Rob and Beth held Lillian in their arms, kissed and hugged her and told her over and over again how loved she was, as the breathing tube was removed and their little girl became an angel. Lillian was only 3 days old when she stopped breathing and 6 days old when she passed. The Dr's were unable to find anything to cause Lillian to stop breathing and it was ruled as SIDS, Rob and Beth received no answers or closure further then that.
Rob and Beth had to adjust to life without their little girl, the worst pain imaginable. They spent weeks and months mourning their daughter, they would mourn for the rest of their lives the daughter they would never get to watch grow. They wanted to make Lillian a big sister though and tried for months to be blessed with a "Rainbow baby"; a baby born after the death of a baby because there is always a rainbow after a storm. After 9 months of trying, Beth and Rob discovered they would be welcoming their "rainbow baby" in Dec 2015.
The fear of pregnancy after losing a baby is unexplainable, you fear connecting with the baby in case something happens, you fear not connecting with the baby in fear of "replacing" your lost baby, you worry about everything and anything and cannot enjoy a single moment of the pregnancy because you have lost your "pregnancy innocence" and know what could happen. Beth tried to relax and take in every pregnancy moment and anxiously awaited her first ultrasound. At 10 and a half weeks they were finally going in to see their baby for the first time. When the tech left the room without saying anything, Beth knew something was wrong. The Dr came in and told them that there was no heartbeat and that the "rainbow baby" that they had hoped and prayed for, for so long, was gone.
Beth was sent home to pass the baby naturally over the next couple of days. Rob had a feeling from the beginning that this baby was a boy and so they named him Robbie Jr. After delivering Robbie Jr, Beth began to hemorrhage and had to be rushed to the hospital and there were worries that she would need a blood transfusion. Thankfully they were able to stop the bleeding and Beth was sent home to heal and mourn the loss of another baby.
Shortly after losing Lillian, a movie was released called "Return to Zero" about a couple dealing with the loss of their son. The movie became very popular with baby loss parents and "Return to Zero" decided to host a "Return to Zero Baby Loss Retreat" for mothers of angels, to be able to go on a journey to find joy and meaning after loss. The latest retreat is being held in Seattle and after the incredibly difficult year that Beth has had, I can think of no one more deserving then her to go to this amazing retreat. I hope to be able to raise enough money to cover the retreat fees and airfare to Seattle. If you are close to Beth or Rob and have ever thought to yourself "I wish there was something I could do for them" please consider donating, as this will be an amazing experience full of healing and growth.
