Kayla (Mahar) Liszewski has been diagnosed with malignant chordoma, a rare bone cancer of the L3-L4 lumbar spine. She will be treated at Mass General Hospital in Boston by a team of amazing doctors from the Stephen L Harris Center for Chordoma Care. Radiation starts June 15 and will run through July during which she will have 28 specialized treatments. She will have a 12+ hour long surgery to completely resect the tumor at the end of August with a lengthy rehabilitation stay as well as a year long recovery process. During much of this time she will be required to live in Boston and will be unable to work. Let's help Kayla and her husband Pat ease their worries by helping with the financial burden of having one spouse out of work and maintaining two residencies during the course of treatment. A benefit is being planned for October but in the meantime let's help with the living and traveling expenses the Liszewskis will incur during this time. Then Kayla can focus on healing and Pat can focus on supporting his wonderful wife.
