Dhamaka is UC Merced’s very first Bollywood fusion dance team, dedicated to creating a vibrant, dynamic space where diverse dance styles and cultures come together. We combine Bollywood with hip-hop, kuthu, lyrical, bhangra, and more, building a unique and inclusive dance experience that resonates with audiences from all backgrounds. Through our performances, we aim to celebrate India’s rich heritage while reflecting the evolving nature of the South Asian diaspora. By infusing traditional South Asian dance elements with contemporary moves, we strive to serve as a cultural bridge on campus, showcasing a fusion of art that is as unique as it is inclusive. In doing so, we hope to break stereotypes and promote a greater understanding of South Asian culture.
