Stage 4 Liver Disease

Help us Support Garrett!

        As we go into the holiday season, we are helping support Garrett and his family after he was diagnosed in June of this year with Stage 4 Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis and Autoimmune Hepatitis.

         He is currently being treated by some of the best Liver Specialists and awaiting a transplant once he is healthy enough to be a good candidate. Lately the illness has spread to his kidneys creating more complications. It’s been an up hill battle since day one for each and every one of his family members and friends. The support and prayers have been incredible as he fights to beat this illness so he can live a long healthy life with his two children. 

        Garrett has always been known for his contagious smile and ability to make people laugh even during those tough times. He grew up with 3 younger siblings who look up to him as the big brother who will always be there for them no matter what and will always protect them. That lead into him wanting to challenge himself and fight for his country so he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served for six years as an 0311, and 0352 infantryman. He absolutely loved what he did even on the toughest days he would somehow always find a way to make light of any situation. While serving in the Marines, Garrett had become a father of two beautiful children who forever changed his life in the best way imaginable. His life now had a purpose and something to live for that was bigger than himself. His purpose was and will now forever be giving every ounce of his heart to his kids and making sure no matter what happens he will love them with everything he has for as long as he can. They make his life whole From his daughter painting his nails to his son wrestling daddy all the time, they complete his life.

        He’s not only fighting for his life but he is more importantly fighting for his kids and family. He will win this battle and be there for every special moment of his children’s lives. He can’t give up on them and or his incredible family who raised him into the amazing man he is today. He needs our help and support through this journey. Garretts battle unfortunately involves many symptoms that interfere with his everyday life. He often has brain fog and forgets where he is or not knowing who his own mother is when he is staring right at her. He has lost over 45 pounds and struggles daily to do normal everyday things we all take for granted. From being an incredible physical shape to worn down completely, he is constantly aching and in pain. No matter how bad he feels he makes sure he’s still giving his all to his loved ones and those around him which is truly inspiring. That’s what makes him the resilient special man that he is. 

He is not alone in this! 

        He needs our help and more importantly all of our prayers. Help us continue to make him light up the room with his smile and continue to be the loving father his kids need We pray and ask God every single night for just one more day. One more smile. One more laugh. One more tickle fight. One more push on the swings. One more bedtime story for his kids. We pray for his strength, his pain to go away, his recovery, and his ability to keep fighting for his life. We pray that he beats this and shows his kids what the power of love can do.
