Our mom, Chris, is fighting for her life.
She has been diagnosed with stage 4 Adenocarcinoma of the uterus. We have only known for about 2.5 weeks. The original plan was to do a complete hysterectomy on June 1. Those plans changed after the CT scan. The CT scan showed that there are too many tumors in the uterus for them to remove it safely. In addition to the tumors in the uterus, she has 1 by her kidney, 1 by her aorta, many throughout her torso, and it has spread to her lymphnodes. At this point it is inoperable. She had her 1st of 5 rounds of chemo on Friday to aggressively fight this cancer. Chris has donated over 20 years to helping kids. Whether that be being a girl scout leader, or helping kids in USD 500 and USD 202 get art classes when funding was cut. Kids all over KCK might know her even as "Grandma Chris" and would love when she would come do projects with them. She would even help make mother's and father's day gifts in class for kids to take home. For some kids that was the only way for them to give those gifts. In addition to going to schools, she and our dad, Chuck, have also ran the Alcott Arts Center for 20 years. She coordinated many programs like summer art classes, their annual "Trunk or Treat" that always had hundreds of kids in attendance, showcased local students artwork, and attended school fairs and carnivals with her "SpinArt". Our mom is the most amazing, selfless person I have ever met. She will do just about anything for anyone and not ask for anything other than gratitude in return. We are asking for help for out of pocket medical expenses, durable medical equipment (transfer chair, shower bench), modifications to the house to transport her to and from appointments, and a million other things that come up in these situations. If you would like to offer your services or anything else, please contact us at [email redacted]. Thank you in advance.
