Uber Driver's Car Destroyed In FBI Arrest of Passenger

Hello, my name is Kevin and I've been a part-time Uber driver for over 2 years.

On the night of April 24th, 2025, I picked up a passenger in Uptown. When I pulled up at his destination in South Loop, we were rear-ended by an SUV, and then Federal agents pointed guns and threw smoke bombs at my car.

Turns out that my passenger was an FBI fugitive who's been wanted for murder since 2022 and the Feds had been pursuing my vehicle.

He insisted on continuing pursuit but I surrendered to the Feds. Not after long, he stole my car and attempted to escape before the Feds crashed into my car again and finally arrested him.

My car and source of income is now totaled, and both my personal and Uber insurance providers and the Feds have denied payment over this carjacking. I have tried to pursue legal action, but lawyer after lawyer have refused to take this case given how difficult it is to pursue legal action against the Feds given their immunity while pursuing criminals.

As of May 2, 2025, I am currently without a car, and since coverage was denied, I will need to pay for a new vehicle out of my own pocket along with dealing with income loss. Any small donation will make a huge difference, especially given that I am not at fault and am forced to pick up the shattered pieces in my life simply for picking up the wrong passenger at the wrong time.
