UBC Homemade PPE Initiative
Donation protected
Rationale:
To prevent the spread of Covid-19, The Public Health Agency of Canada has recently recommended wearing non-medical face masks for everyone. To alleviate public demand for medical masks, this initiative aims to create and distribute home-made cloth face masks to non-medical workers in the Downtown Eastside, who are currently not assigned any medical grade protective equipment. We are currently working with volunteer local tailors/seamstresses, but we do not have enough fabric to make the masks. Your donation would go towards purchasing fabric and mask-building materials for this initiative!
Just a small donation of $2.50 can help us mask a front-line community health worker.
Initiative Goals:
Provide home-made face masks for Downtown Eastside non-medical workers (community centre, food bank, housing, etc). They are unfortunately are not assigned medical grade PPE, and are considered the “forgotten workers.”
Expand production to distribute masks to vulnerable families, and patients with Covid-19.
