Help Shannon Kick Cancer's Ass
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,
We are reaching out on behalf of our beloved friend, Shannon Gray.
Earlier this May, in a devastating turn of events, Shannon was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, triple negative invasive pleomorphic lobular carcinoma. It's as ugly as it sounds but Shannon is ready to fight it with her formidable strength and trademark sense of humour.
Shannon’s treatment plan begins on July 9 and will continue late into 2026 if all goes well. She’ll start with 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by surgery... a single or double mastectomy, plus lymph node removal. Recovery from surgery is expected to take 8 to 12 weeks, and after that, she’ll undergo daily radiation treatments every weekday for 5 weeks.
This will take a serious toll on Shannon's mind and body. The side effects from chemotherapy, major surgery, and radiation will leave her physically exhausted and often too ill to manage daily life on her own. The oncology team has strongly recommended Shannon stop working until after her surgery... and because her private health benefits don't cover long term disability, she'll have no assistance during this time to cover the costs of being a single renter.
Your support will go directly to:
- easing the burden of missed work
- living expenses (groceries, utilities, insurance, etc.)
- health insurance + out of pocket prescription costs
Any donation is incredibly appreciated, and if you're comfortable please leave your name as we would love to personally thank you all!
This will be the most challenging year of Shannon's life, but with the support of the incredible communities she has surrounded herself with, we know she'll put up one hell of a fight!!
To quote that trademark sense of humour...
"Gonna be a tough year, but hey I may finally end up with symmetrical nipples."
