Fight pancreatic cancer -MY MOM- Trial in TX

Don protégé
It’s hard for me to ask for help but I need it to safe my mom…

I am reaching out to you and all my friends and family in USA and Poland on behalf of my mom, Joanna Pawliczek.

My mom Joanna is only 65 years old, full of energy, love, kindness, and passion for life.
She is wonderful mom, grandmother, and wife. I love her deeply with my sister. She lives in Swinoujscie, Poland but visits me very often in CT, where I live with my husband and our 2 children. My kids love and adore her so much! She was supposed to be with us for Easter and Summer ...but we got the bad news. My mom found out she has cancer; she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2024. Everything changed instantly. Words can’t express the feeling...

We all know that pancreatic cancer is aggressive and stubborn type of cancer and standard line of treatment is not as effective…as we wish. The line of treatment around the globe is the same, either surgery or chemotherapy. My mom started chemotherapy on 4/24/2024 and she was told that chemo is the line of treatment in her case. I know that chemo is not the cure especially when it comes to pancreatic cancer. It is not as effective as it is with other types of cancer, so I keep fighting for my mom! I can’t lose hope. I just can not loose her.

I researched clinical trials around the globe and found a novel approach to the treatment of pancreatic cancer in Texas. It’s called radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) at the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center led by Dr. Thosani. It is an exciting approach to destroying inoperable primary or metastatic tumors. Dr. Thosani, MD, professor in the Department of Surgery with McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Chair of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Standards of Practice Committee and has been involved heavily in this trail. Dr. Thosani has over 19 years of experience in the medical filed and published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Currently, he is Chair of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Standards of Practice Committee.
Based on provided information from clinical team from Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center there are approx. 80-100 patients enrolled in a trial, including stage 4 patients. Based on the study, they see amazing results in 70 % of the patients who responds well to this novel treatment (no disease progression, decrease in tumor marker, reduction is size etc.).
After sending all medical records of my mom Joanna Pawliczek to the office of Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, she is considered as “qualified for a trial and they can get her sees her after her second round of chemotherapy”. Clinical Trail Team is very optimistic when comes to my mom’s case. Because my mom is from Poland, she would be considered as “out of the country patient” This means all medical costs associated with this trial and travel will be out of pocket.

Dr. Thosani recommends (for now) 3 procedures:
• $11,258.53 each (code # 43259 & code # 43270)
Total cost for 3 procedures: $33,775.59
There is no need to stay in hospital.
Our goal is to raise money to have for 3 treatments every 4-6 weeks between her chemo (after second treatment doctor will be able decide what is the path going forward and how well the patient responded).
To participate in this trial, International Patient Relations Coordinator from Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center provided our family a quote of $20,000 as a financial clearance. I have no time to waste. We have only until May 15, 2024, to raise the money in order to fly her in the last week of May for her first treatment.

Please donate whatever you can, please share this post on your social media, forward it by email, text it to your co-workers, friends and family.
If you cannot donate, please pray for positive outcome, and share this post with everyone.

If you decide to donate $ 100, we need 300 friends and family members to reach the goal.
I am trying to be positive and optimistic – please pray for my family.

I can answer any questions and provide any medical records or quotes associated with this trail, if necessary.

With love and appreciation,

Marta Powichrowski, the daughter- THANK YOU!
