Support Jim Andrews’ Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Jim Andrews, his family, and friends are in need of prayers and any help they can get. Some of you may know or have heard that Jim had emergency surgery due to a bowel perforation on November 13th. He was initially admitted on November 8th, and they tried to help him with antibiotics first. Jim’s condition quickly turned; the pain was so severe, and the infection was drastically worse; he underwent emergency surgery at 2:00 A.M. However, despite the successful surgery, within hours, he was in hemorrhagic and septic shock. Once the medical team was able to get him stable enough, they rushed him back into surgery late that evening. He is currently on a ventilator in the ICU after having hemorrhagic and septic shock and has had two additional surgeries since then. Thanks to the incredible medical team, he is stable and being closely monitored, though he remains sedated and ventilated. UPDATE – He was taken off the vent 11-19!
Jim is a husband, father of 2, grandfather of 3, brother, uncle, and friend to many. As a retired police officer from South Bend Police Department, and North Liberty Police Department, Jim served his community for many years, always putting others before himself and working tirelessly to protect and serve. Now, it’s our turn to give back and help him in his time of need. The road to recovery will be long, and the cost of his care—along with the uncertainty of his future medical needs—means his family is facing significant financial strain.
As family and friends, we are rallying together to support Jim and his family in any way we can. Any contribution, big or small, will go towards directly helping them navigate this challenging period, covering daily expenses, gas, and bills, and providing some relief during this uncertain time. The medical team anticipates a long recovery, and the family has not left his bedside. Jim will be out of work for the foreseeable future; Tammy has had to take off many days/weeks of work and will have to take off more once he is out of the ICU and when he finally gets home. Anything is helpful, and even more, it’s greatly appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, a prayer would mean just as much.
Please pray for him and continue to share this so we can at least take some of the financial burden off! Thank you.
