We are a new, upcoming, and currently the only Hmong dance academy in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. UAKE derives from the Hmong words “ua ke,” meaning “together.” Together, we want to uphold our culture by incorporating modern styles into traditional Hmong dance. Our main purpose is to promote and instill the love of Hmong culture and dance, while inspiring self-confidence, discipline, and respect in our community.
Our team consists of five experienced dance coaches overlooking four levels of dance divisions ranging from 6-20 years of age. Our advanced teams will partake in Hmong dance competitions around the Wisconsin and Minnesota regional areas. Overall, we would like to showcase our performances at events all around the La Crosse community when given the opportunity. We also have three passionate coordinators handling behind-the-scenes needs. The eight of us noticed that there was a piece of the Hmong culture missing in the La Crosse County, therefore, beginning our journey to maintain and expose the community to the beauty of Hmong dance.
We are excited to jumpstart the new year with our students but need some help. With so much passion and little to no funds, all UAKE team members are currently volunteering all their spare time to keep the academy running. There is much to do, and we have a long way to go before we reach our goal. We hope you will join hands with us by donating to our amazing teams and team members at UAKE Dance Academy. All funds will be used towards the cost of outfits, dance expenses, and operational needs.
Thank you so much for reading our story and for your support!
