***Testimonial by Jessica Greenberg***
For some of you, this may be the first time that you are hearing about my Mom's struggles. For others, you know this has been long overdue. Regardless of who you are, I just want to say thank you for taking the time to support my mom in any way that you can.
On the morning February 19th, I received a text message from my mom.
"I'm finally ready to check myself in."
For those of you that know Mimi, you know the gravity of this statement. For those that don't understand what this took for my mom to send... let me share her story.
Mimi's struggles escalated April 5th, 2014 when my dad passed away suddenly from a heart attack. It wasn't a secret that my Mom's relationship with alcohol wasn't a healthy one, but with the passing of my father all bets were off.
Instead of seeking help for grief and depression, she started drinking heavily. Likely to numb the pain and to deal with the stress of her new responsibilities as a widow.
For close to 7 years now, I have painfully watched the strong, brave, hardworking woman I looked up to become a shell of the person she once was. I've witnessed her sell her home, lose her vehicle, watched as the family business closed, she lost a job that she held for over 20 years, slowly saw friends and family stay at an arms length, but worst of all we lost the Mimi we all once knew.
Over the last 7 years a number of you have reached out to offer support, encouraged Mimi to get help, and have checked in on our family to make sure that we were doing alright. Those conversations are not forgotten and I want to say thank you to all of you. Those moments helped lead up to where we are now.
Mimi finally wants this for herself
On February 22nd, we checked my Mom into Milam Lakeside Recovery Center in Kirkland, WA. She will undergo 3 to 8 days of Detox and then spend another 28 days for in patient treatment. Due to COVID she cannot have visitors, but we will be providing updates for anyone who wants to know how she is doing.
Mimi has already invested $1,000 of her own money to get her life back on track. She has also received $2,000 from Cindy Desimone to assist with the $3,000 deposit required for treatment.
We are humbly asking for any support that you can provide financially to help off set the total cost of Mimi's treatment so she can focus on her sobriety.
If you would like to send cards, flowers, words of encouragement, or anything else for Mimi feel free to reach out to:
