Many of you are aware of the unexpected challenge Anna and Gus faced when they learned of Starling’s Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis diagnosis. Starling was born with this rare blood disorder and has been fighting hard for some fourteen months. This journey has been filled with many ups, downs, twists and turns for Anna, Gus, Cutter, and their extended family.
In August, they learned his LCH returned and as a result, Starling has spent many nights over the past five months at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital receiving intensive chemo treatments. These lengthy stays at Barbara Bush can last many weeks and result in Anna and Star being separated from Gus and Cutter for much of that time. Through all of this, Anna and Gus have remained strong and positive. Starling’s prognosis remains good, but the road to recovery will be long.
The emotional burden of this journey is heavy for Anna and Gus. They are fortunate to be surrounded by skilled LCH experts and loving, supportive family and friends. While many of us have worked to ease the emotional burden of this process, there is a looming financial burden that Anna and Gus face.
As a community, we have the opportunity to help ease the stress of expenses associated with Starlings treatments, and Anna not being able to work. I know Anna and Gus are already so grateful for the incredible amount of support and love they received thus far on this journey and are so thankful for their community of people.
Many thanks in advance for any contribution you can make to this amazing family!
