Kim's Cancer Journey

My name is Kim Williams. I am 54 years old and although I have never smoked, I was recently diagnosed with stage 1 Adenocarcinoma. Lung cancer in my upper right lobe. After several CT scans, biopsies, and a PET scan, surgery is considered my best option.

I was originally scheduled for an upper right lobectomy/thoracotomy on August 18, 2023. Me, my fiance, Mom, daughter and her boyfriend all showed up for the surgery only to be bumped by an emergency heart surgery. Now, I am rescheduled for August 21, 2023. This not only is going to push my time away from work, my fiance is now having to take a whole unpaid week off from work to be with me.

I have good health insurance, but I still haven't met the $2500 deductible. Between that and things like mine and my fiance's missed wages, rent, car payment, car insurance, cell phones, electricity, groceries, and tv service I don't know how we are going to financially make it through it. I am expected to be in the hospital for 3-6 days, and then probably 2-4 weeks of recovery.

In the past 2 years I have been diagnosed with anemia, Rheumatoid arthritis, POTS, migraines, sleep apnea, depression, anxiety, TMJ, pulmonic stenosis, and most recently scoliosis. I have continued to warrior own and work in spite of these obstacles. Anyone who knows me knows that I hate asking for help for anything, but this is totally over my means to do myself.
