Help Support Maui Goat Yoga after Lahaina Wildfire
Donation protected
Aloha,
I am Wendy, the owner of Maui Goat Yoga. This is extremely hard to write and very humbling to ask for help. We need assistance to stay afloat and feed our farm animals. We provide yoga classes, with goats roaming around the class, for a healthy, fun, animal therapy experience since 2017. We are a 90% tourist-based business.
Maui is suffering because of the tragic Lahaina wildfire that has devastated our community, families and businesses. Small businesses like ours are suffering.
We are a small tourist-based business on the island of Maui. Many small businesses like ours are going to suffer without tourists. Tourists fuel Maui’s economy and we have no idea how long it will be for tourists to come back to our island. All of Maui is open, except Lahaina, but people are not coming.
Since Wednesday we have had numerous cancellations and provided thousands of dollars in refunds and now our classes are empty on our calendar. More and more tourists are canceling their trips. 20,000 tourists flew out of Maui in the first 2 days of the fire, and no one is flying into Maui now. This has left us with no future business. The same story for all the other small tourist businesses on our island. This is a devastating reality.
We are doing all we can to help our community by donating, volunteering and sharing what we can to help our community. Animal therapy and Maui Goat Yoga is what our community of Maui needs to help heal right now. We need to be here for them so we can provide a place to come get away and snuggle a goat, breathe and get some animal therapy.
We currently have 17 goats, 20 chickens, 3 dogs, a cat and a peacock named Blu. Please help us stay well through this and our family of animals. We will use the money to feed animals and pay bills to support our farm. We are terrified of what the next 6 months to a year will look like.
The town of Lahaina is destroyed. The west side of the island surrounding Lahaina is not open to tourists at this time. The rest of the island is open. Upcountry, where our farm is has lost several homes. We were fortunate to survive the upcountry fire and are extremely grateful our home and farm were spared but so many small businesses like ours will suffer tremendously.
Thank you for your love and support. I have been in tears all week long out of fear for everyone on our island.
