All for Violet

Hi everyone My best friend is going through some really hard times at the moment. His daughter Violet, a beautiful little girl, was just born on March 20th, 2019. She was born with a condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or HLHS which is a Congenital heart defect. If you would like to learn more about this you can visit https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/heartdefects/hlhs.html Violet is such a strong person already but unfortunately HLHS is only the beginning of her medical issues since birth. When HLHS is known, the child must undergo several heart surgeries; beginning with the most crucial and most life threatening one only days after being born. To the relief of her parents and everyone who knows her, her surgery was a success! On the morning of April 6th roughly after 7AM Violet, being completely stable, started sweating and her stats became extremely abnormal. The doctors were called in quickly and they performed xrays and ultrasounds. They determined that at some point that morning, a blood clot had formed in one of the aortic valves of her heart. The blood clot was stopping the blood flow to the lower half of her body. She was rushed into surgery in order to try and remove the clot and reopen the valve so that the blood could flow properly in her lower abdomen and legs. Unfortunately, this blood clot was a big hit on her kidneys and caused them to shut down. She had to go through another procedure the next day in order to insert a line in her jugular so they could run a process called dialysis. This is essentially a machine with medicine that makes her kidneys function, in hopes that eventually they'll take the boost and start functioning on their own. A couple of weeks later, most of her organ functions came back but unfortunately her kidneys are still not functioning at all. Just to add to her terrible situation, she is now infected with a dangerous bacteria that set itself in the jugular line connected to her dialysis. Doctors were coming up with several solutions to fight this infection but unfortunately, due to her current condition, it would have surely lead to her death. So the only viable option was to wait and hope that she would be able to fight this bacteria off on her own. The words from her doctor was "I think it is very unlikely that your daughter will survive this infection". All of this has been very difficult on Violet's parents. They both live in Ottawa, Ontario and have had to travel to Toronto, Ontario (6 hour drive) for the birth of their baby girl. This has been very expensive as her father has now had to take a leave of absence from his new job. He must still pay bills back home like rent, utilities and not to mention everything needed in Toronto. So the money has stopped coming in but the expenses have only gone up. I ask that you find it in your hearts to help support this new family in their time of need. Donating is a great way to help the people that have been told there is nothing they can do but watch their daughter constantly be sedated. Thank you for your thoughts, and caring for this little princess and her parents.
