In July 2024, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began treatment in the Fall of 2024 and faithfully fought through a long year of treatment, completing her immunotherapy on November 4, 2025. After everything she endured, there was finally a sense of relief, believing the biggest hurdles were behind her. She was preparing for her reconstruction surgery and they were hopeful for a season of healing.

However, just weeks later, Amy began feeling unwell. As her condition worsened, she went to the emergency room on November 23 with a 103+ fever and dangerously low blood counts. After two weeks of extensive testing, attempts to stabilize her blood work, and searching for an infection, she was transferred to UofM Sparrow Main. Following a bone marrow biopsy, Amy received devastating news and she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

Chemotherapy began on December 9 and is being administered 24 hours a day for seven days straight. Amy has been hospitalized since November 23 and is expected to remain in the hospital through at least the beginning of the new year. This has been an overwhelming and unexpected turn after such a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

This GoFundMe has been created to help support Sy and Amy during this incredibly difficult time. Funds raised will help cover medical expenses, travel costs, time away from work, and everyday needs so they can focus entirely on Amy’s care, comfort, and recovery.

Most of all, we ask for continued prayers for comfort through this journey, strength for the fight ahead, healing and health afterward, and that Amy and her family continually feel the love and presence of God surrounding them.
