Seizure Alert Dog for Annmarie
Donation protected
My name is Annmarie and I am a 57 year old disabled widow. I suffer from a severe seizure disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I was able to live independently for the last six years only because I had a wonderful Service dog named Samson who would alert me a seizure was coming so I could take preventive actions. He also calmed my PTSD episodes. Samson died suddenly, about a month ago and my life has become a nightmare. I am having grand mal seizures daily and PTSD episodes nearly as often. My independence has been greatly impaired and I have had to lean heavily on friends and family for the simplest of tasks. No longer can I just jump on the bus, now I have to schedule every outing where I can get rides in case I seize. Being home alone is terrifying, because I may fall and hurt myself. But this doesn't have to be my future. I have been given the opportunity to receive a new service dog if I can raise the necessary costs. The dog, himself, will cost $12,000 (including his specialized training) and I will need to make a trip from IL to FL for five days of training at my own expense. There will also be various medical costs involved. Please help me to regain my independence so I can once again feel like a worth whiled human being.
