This week, my niece, Rickie Kidd, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. While trying to absorb this fact, she was also given a CT scan to check her lungs. What I didn't know is that this can spread quickly, and the lungs are typically a popular locale for the cells to migrate to. We will not have the results until roughly the 23rd of September on the CT scan, but the cervical cancer has been confirmed.
As life commonly works, Rickie was between jobs...and insurance when she was diagnosed. She THOUGHT this was a quick doctor appointment simply to have him tell her why she was in pain and most likely get a medication and POOF, all would be well again. Sadly, that is not how her story played out.
She has already had surgery #1 to remove the tumor, but to all of our dismay, the tumor had grown too large to remove at one time. To remove it all would require a hysterectomy, which he did not have consent for at that time. So, he decided to remove what he could and then discuss with Rickie what her choices are from here.
While she is deciding on surgery or chemo, I have offered to help with what might be needed. First up, try to raise whatever money I can to help offset some of the expenses she has incurred from her first surgery and upcoming procedures to follow.
We have set a goal because the site asks for one, but let me just say, we HOPE to hit the goal, but are grateful for any amount.
Any questions you might have, please feel free to contact me thru a private msg on FB.
