Shine for Zari

My name is Jamie and I am sharing this story on behalf of my best friend April Faith. On July 14, 2016 April's Beautiful 16 year old daughter Zari was riding her bike down a public sidewalk, next to a busy road where she had the right of way, when she was run over by a truck turning out of a parking lot. She was dragged a city block before the driver was alerted by other pedestrians that he had a child and her bike dragging under his truck. Thank you to the help of many onlookers she was able to be rescued from under his tire.

She was taken by ambulance to the 1st hospital were her initial injuries were found to be a broken back in two places, broken pelvis, road burn all over her body, and both sides of her head were scalped. They informed us that because of her young age and the chance of internal injuries they didn't have the equipment that was needed for her proper care so they had to transfer her to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

They got her to Primary's about 1 1/2 hours later and did full body CT Scans and x-rays, there they were able to clean her road burns and head up. We later found out our Precious girls summer was going to be spent in a bed now being properly diagnosed with broken sacrum in two places, broken pelvis and broken hip.

She had surgery less than 24 hours later where the Doctors placed a rod through her hip to reconnect her pelvis and spine and through to the other side. It will take physical therapy and much hard work on Zari's part to learn to walk and get her motor functions working properly again.  Zari will be a senior this year and she has so many ambitions and is already on her way to receiving an Associate’s Degree with her Diploma when she graduates in 2017!

We are asking for help, ANY HELP that we can receive for her wonderful family. Her AMAZING Mother April is a single mother, and has been for over 7 years now doing it all alone working as many as 2 and at time 3 jobs to support Zari and her younger sister and brother. April has a heart of Gold and is always the first to help ANYONE that is in need, she is not the type that asks for help especially financially but in this case we all are working together as a family to help take as many burdens off her shoulders as possible.  She is going to need to take time away from work to stay home and take care of Zari there will be expenses that the Insurance will not be able to help pay for such as Mortgage payments for the home that she was just able to buy after working so hard 3 months for her and the children, Utilities for the home, Car insurance for her van that will be needed to transport Zari and her wheelchair to and from Dr. appointments until she no longer needs the wheel chair, Food for kids, as we all know just because the money stops coming in doesn’t mean that hunger stops.

It is unclear as of now how long April will need to be home with Zari to help her recover and battle through the strongest trial she has ever experienced in her young life! I know a lot of people are also going through hard time and we are asking for ANYTHING YOU CAN DONATE! Rather it be $1, $5, $10 even if you usually stop and get a Beans N Brew Daily can you Please Help and donate your $3.73 for one day.

You are helping invest in Zari's future and making it possible to have her mother by her side day by day and help in her recovery! Thank you for taking the time to read and for all your love and support!
