Donavan is a very intelligent and wonderful young man who has been blind since birth. He  has earned a position as one of the top 12 Braille students in the U.S. and Canada and he can now compete at the National Braille Challenge in Los Angeles in June, 2015. Donavan is an exceptional young man, and this is a tremendous accomplishment, because it is difficult to win against stiff competition, and this is his 3rd time to qualify for nationals.
      The National Braille Institute will be paying for the hotel room for 2 nights, but they will not pay for the cost of his transportation to and from Los Angeles. His home is in south Louisiana, so the plane fare for him and 2 adult family members is quite expensive. Also, there are costs of  transportation from the LA airport to the hotel and back, and other incidental expenses. Donavan's family already has financial difficulty because of family medical bills.
        If anyone wants to help him get to Los Angeles, this would be greatly appreciated. Donavan is representing Grand Lake High School, Cameron Parish, and the State of Louisiana. We are proud of him ! We know many people will want to share in this exciting opportunity to help in this important event in his life.
