Naya's Dance Fund

Hi, my name is Naya Hutchinson.  I am a 16 year old high school Junior and I am currently a member of the CityDance Strathmore Conservatory in Bethesda, Maryland.  I have danced since age 3 and my mom says that I danced in her stomach before I was born. In past summers I have danced at Alvin Ailey and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.   In 2014 and 2015 I was awarded Outstanding Dance Scholar at my high school.  On April 11, 2016, I was inducted into the National Dance Honor Society. In January of this year I auditioned for several summer dance intensive programs.  I was blessed to be accepted into 4 programs including Hubbard Street in Chicago and North Carolina School of the Arts in North Carolina. Because the program dates overlap I was forced to choose the 2 programs that did not have date conflicts.  I will participate in the Alonzo King Lines Summer Intensive Program in San Francisco, California and the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Program in Austin, Texas.  The programs are well known and it is an honor to be accepted.  The purpose of this fund is to help cover the cost of the 9 weeks of the dance intensives and travel cost.  I need to raise an additional $4,360 to reach my $7,500 goal.  I know the programs will help to prepare me for outstanding dance opportunities in college and professionally.  Thank you for your generosity in helping me to reach my goal which is to use the art of dance to have a positive impact on the world!
