My name is Clarissa and I'm raising money to bring my mother home to live with me and my family in Kansas.

On February 11th, 2025, my mother was transported via EMS from her home to the hospital in Kingman, AZ, after being sick and in bed for two weeks.

While in the hospital being treated for a GI issue, my mom started experiencing severe pain in both legs. Blood clots had rapidly developed in both of her legs, and she required emergency surgery. She was life-flighted to Phoenix, AZ, where she underwent surgery to remove the clots. However, due to delayed treatment, the muscles in my mom's right leg went into rhabdomyolysis and released toxins into her body that started shutting down her kidneys. The only choice was to amputate her right leg.

While dealing with healing from an amputation, my mother is still dealing with the GI concerns that sent her to the hospital in the first place and now has a feeding tube.

She's been in the hospital for over 40 days now. She had stabilized and was set to discharge to a short-stay facility for physical therapy, but developed sepsis from an unknown source and is just now getting over that. She will hopefully make the transition within the next week.

My mom lives alone in Arizona. She's been alone in the hospital for most of this. Insurance won't cover her transport to Kansas to come live with me, nor will it cover a lot of the medical equipment she is going to need when she gets here.
